華時評論對台灣總統選舉的評論

華盛頓時報一月二十五日的一篇評論文章，力挺國民黨的總統候選人馬英九，文章中說，如果馬英九當選總統，美國將會有一位忠實可靠的朋友，而台灣人民則是大贏家。

華盛頓時報星期五的一篇評論文章，題目是「從台灣來的大好訊息」，由William Rusher撰寫。引人注目的是這篇專文的下方刊登了一幅不小的中華民國國旗圖案。

文章一開始說，台灣的選民在這次立委選舉中的投票結果，讓美國友人感到滿意。雖然這次選舉沒有引起美國媒體太多的注意，但那是值得一提的勝利。

文章敘述陳水扁總統當政後造成兩岸關係緊張，民進黨推動的入聯公投引起美國的不滿。文章使用強烈的字句說，民進黨在立委選舉中大敗，那是民進黨在總統大選和入聯公投徹底失敗的預兆。

華府的「尼爾森報導」也刊登專家的分析說，民進黨總統候選人謝長廷面臨的選舉情勢十分嚴峻。
